Every gathering looks a little different. I’ll help you plan for the photographs that matter most, then work with the people, setting, and pace of your occasion to document it naturally.
Before your session
We’ll talk through the occasion, who will be there, and any photographs you especially want to make time for. I can help you choose a location, plan the groupings, and think through the details that will help the session run smoothly.
During your session
I’ll provide direction for group portraits and smaller family combinations, while leaving room for candid interactions and the moments that happen in between. Whether we’re photographing several generations together or celebrating a child’s first birthday, I’ll help everyone feel comfortable and know what to expect.
For your gathering
With multiple ages, personalities, and family groups, flexibility matters. We’ll prioritize the photographs that are most important to you and make adjustments as needed. The goal is to create a meaningful collection of images that reflects both the occasion and the people who made it special.
The details matter, too
Alongside group portraits, I’ll look for the smaller moments that help tell the story of the day: a shared laugh, a proud grandparent, a birthday detail, or the way family members connect when they’re together. These photographs help preserve more than who attended. They capture something of what the gathering felt like.

How many people can be included in a Celebration Session?
Celebration sessions are designed for extended families and gatherings with multiple family groups. When you inquire, let me know approximately how many people and households will be attending so we can talk through the best approach for your group.
Can we take individual family portraits as well as a large group photo?
Absolutely. We can plan for a large group portrait, smaller household groupings, grandparents with grandchildren, couples, and other combinations that are important to your family. Sharing your priorities ahead of time helps us make the most of our session.
Do you photograph birthday parties or events?
I offer portrait-focused Celebration Sessions for occasions such as first birthdays, family gatherings, and anniversaries. These sessions focus on group portraits, family combinations, and candid moments during our scheduled time rather than comprehensive event coverage.
Where do Celebration Sessions take place?
Sessions can take place outdoors at a location that suits your group and the occasion. I photograph throughout Anne Arundel County, the greater Annapolis area, and nearby parts of central Maryland. If you have a location in mind, I’m happy to discuss whether it will work well for your group.
What should we wear for a family gathering?
Coordinating colors and complementary outfits tend to photograph well without everyone wearing the exact same thing. I recommend choosing a palette that works across households and feels comfortable for the occasion. I’m happy to offer outfit suggestions as you plan.
What happens if the weather doesn’t cooperate?
For outdoor sessions, we’ll keep an eye on the forecast as the date approaches. If conditions are unsuitable for photography, we’ll discuss rescheduling options.
When will we receive our photos?
Your edited gallery will be delivered within 2–3 weeks of your session. Your Celebration Session includes the full gallery of edited digital images.
