The Newborn Experience
Newborn sessions are designed to move at your baby’s pace. I’ll guide you through the process, make adjustments as needed, and give you plenty of time for feeding, soothing, changing, and settling in.
Before your session
We’ll talk through what to expect, how to prepare your home, and any questions you have before the session. You don't need a perfectly styled house or a complicated setup. We’ll work with the spaces and light that feel most natural to your family.
During your session
I’ll guide you through a variety of photographs while leaving plenty of room for your baby to lead the pace. We’ll photograph your family together, individual portraits, sibling moments, and the small details that make this season distinctive.
For your baby
Feeding, diaper changes, soothing, and breaks are all part of the session. If your baby needs to be held, fed, or settled, we’ll take the time they need and continue when everyone is ready.

These first weeks go quickly. My goal is to create photographs that document your new family as you are right now, from the way you hold your baby to the small details you’ll want to remember later.

What to Expect
You don't need a perfectly prepared home or a baby who cooperates for the camera. I'll guide you through the session and work around your baby's needs as we go.

When should we schedule our newborn session?
I recommend reaching out during pregnancy so we can get your session on the calendar around your due date. If your baby has already arrived, you’re still welcome to reach out and I’ll do my best to find a date that works.
How old should our baby be for newborn photos?
Newborn sessions can take place during the first several weeks after birth, but there’s no single age that works for every family. My in-home lifestyle sessions are baby-led, so we can create beautiful photographs whether your baby is very sleepy and tiny or a little more alert and expressive.
Where do newborn sessions take place?
Newborn sessions take place in your home. This keeps the experience familiar and comfortable for your family and means you don’t have to pack up your newborn and travel to a studio. I’ll work with the spaces and available light in your home to create a variety of photographs.
What if my baby needs to eat, be changed, or be soothed during the session?
We’ll take breaks whenever your baby needs them. Feeding, diaper changes, rocking, cuddling, and settling are all a normal part of the session. There’s no need to rush through these moments.
Do parents and siblings participate in the newborn session?
After booking, you’ll receive a session guide with information about outfits, preparing your kids, what to bring, and what to expect. I’m also available to answer questions and help with planning before your session, including choosing a location and coordinating what everyone will wear.
Can we include our pets?
Absolutely. If your pets are part of your family, they can be included in the session. We’ll keep their participation flexible and work around their comfort level and your baby’s needs.
What is your newborn photography style, and do you provide props?
My newborn sessions are relaxed, in-home lifestyle sessions focused on documenting your family and your baby’s early days as they really are. I’m not a studio-style newborn photographer focused on elaborate poses, costumes, or heavily stylized setups. I’ll provide gentle direction and bring a simple Moses basket and a few neutral wraps, while leaving plenty of room for your baby’s personality and your family’s natural interactions.
I love incorporating personal items that are meaningful to your family, whether that’s a newborn outfit you love, a special blanket, a family heirloom, or a gift you received for the baby. These small details can help tell the story of this particular time in your family’s life.
What should we do to prepare our home?
You don’t need to have your entire home perfectly cleaned or styled. Before your session, I’ll help you identify a few spaces that will work well for photographs. We’ll keep the focus on the areas that matter and make adjustments as needed.
What should we wear for newborn photos?
Choose comfortable clothing that feels like you and works well together as a family. Soft, neutral or earthy colors and simple textures tend to photograph beautifully, but there’s no need for everyone to match. I’ll provide more guidance on outfits and preparation before your session.
When will we receive our newborn photos?
Your edited gallery will be delivered within 2–3 weeks of your session. Your Newborn Session includes the full gallery of the best images from our time together.
